PQI Pty Ltd, Trading as Pro Quip International, is the latest trading evolution in the Pro Quip Group of companies.
Pro Quip International originally commenced in 1978 as Prestronics (Aust.) Pty Ltd, which was the sole importer and distributor of products to the ShellShop Division of the Shell Group of Companies in Australia Ltd throughout the 1980’s. In 1990, Shell Group decided to restructure, and outsource its supply channels. This meant that Prestronics would be left without a customer, and would be closed.
The many international contacts already established by Prestronics would be wasted if the company was left to close, so Martin Haines and Geoff Steventon saw a great opportunity and bought the company. They were keen to maintain the many international contacts and relationships, and build the company to be recognised as a serious product distributor in the Australian market.
In 1994, Stuart Broadley joined the company (then just Martin, Geoff and one sales person) in the position of Office Manager. Over the years, Stuart progressed to General Manager and in 2003, purchased a stake in the company and became Finance Director upon Geoff’s retirement.
Adopting the philosophy of distributing only quality, value added products that were controlled in the Australian market (i.e. exclusive rights to distribute given to Pro Quip International), the company soon carved itself a strong position and continues to prosper.
Today, Martin and Stuart remain co-owners (Directors) of the company, with Stuart taking on the role of CEO, and Martin transitioning in to semi-retirement as per the succession plan.
Pro Quip International will build on its knowledge and connections to deliver superior Automotive and Electrical Products in volume to customers throughout the world.
